About this tool

Enter a birth date and get an exact age — years, months, days, down to hours and minutes — plus the countdown to the next birthday and the zodiac sign, with leap years handled correctly. Precision matters for eligibility forms, medical records, and settling exactly-how-old debates.

How to Calculate Exact Age

  1. 1

Enter the date of birth — yours or anyone's whose precise age you need.

  2. 2

The calculation runs against today's date, accounting for leap years and varying month lengths rather than approximating with 365-day years.

  3. 3

Read the full breakdown: age in every unit, days remaining until the next birthday, and the astrological sign thrown in.

Why Calculate Age with Wrklyst

Computed in Your Browser
The date math happens on your device as you type — birth dates aren't collected or logged anywhere.
Calendar-Correct
Leap years, 28-to-31-day months, and century rules are all handled — the count is exact, not an estimate divided by 365.
Everything at Once
Age, birthday countdown, and zodiac appear together — no separate lookups for each.

Age Calculation Tips

  • Filling an official form? Double-check the form's 'age as of' date — some ask for age on a deadline, not today.
  • Days-until-birthday doubles as a party planning countdown.
  • For a child's age in months (medical and developmental contexts), read the months figure, not rounded years.
  • Verify the birth year you typed — a mistyped decade produces confident nonsense.

Frequently asked questions

Why does exact age in days matter?

Eligibility boundaries are exact: visa applications, insurance policies, competition age brackets, school cutoffs, and pediatric dosing all draw lines at precise dates, not approximate years. 'About 18' and '17 years, 364 days' are legally different people. Exact day counts remove the ambiguity that manual month-counting introduces.

How do leap-year birthdays work?

Born February 29, you have a real birthday every four years and a conventional one otherwise — jurisdictions and institutions typically treat February 28 or March 1 as the legal anniversary in common years. The calculation handles the underlying dates correctly either way; the party date is your choice.

Can I calculate age at a past or future date?

The tool computes age as of today, which serves the common cases. For age on a specific other date — how old was this person when a document was signed? — our Date Difference tool computes the exact span between any two dates, which is the same question generalized.

Is the zodiac sign based on exact astronomy?

It follows the conventional Western zodiac date ranges — Aries from late March, and so on — which is what forms, fun facts, and horoscope columns mean by 'sign'. Boundary dates ('cusps') follow the standard published ranges; astronomers and astrologers argue about the rest without our help.
