About this tool

20KB is a common ceiling for signatures and small photos on exam, recruitment and scholarship portals, and a phone photo is often two hundred times bigger. This page opens with the limit already set to 20KB: add the image and it comes back under 20KB, as clear as that budget allows. If the form also specifies a pixel size, such as a signature box, switch to Pixels, enter it, and keep the 20KB limit. Nothing is uploaded; the image is processed in your browser.

How to Resize an Image to 20KB

  1. 1

Add the photo or the scan of your signature. A photo taken on a phone is fine.

  2. 2

Leave the limit at 20 KB, or switch to Pixels first if the form asks for exact dimensions and keep 20 KB as the maximum file size.

  3. 3

Resize, check the size shown under the result, and download the file to upload to the form.

Why Use This 20KB Resizer

Under 20KB, Every Time
The tool searches for the highest JPG quality that fits and reduces the dimensions only when it has to, so the file never comes out at 21KB.
Counts KB the Strict Way
20KB is treated as 20,000 bytes, slightly less than 20 × 1,024, so the file passes whichever way the portal counts.
No Upload, No Account
Signatures and ID photos are processed in your browser, never on a server, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Tips for 20KB Uploads

  • Many Indian government exam portals cap a signature at 10–20KB and a photo at 20–50KB, alongside exact pixel sizes. Check the current notification before you upload.
  • Crop away the empty space around a signature before resizing; less area means more detail in the strokes.
  • Take ID photos against a plain light background; busy backgrounds use up the byte budget.
  • Keep the original. If the form rejects the file, you can try different dimensions without quality loss stacking up.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the form reject my photo even though it looks small?

Forms check the file size in KB, not how big the picture looks on screen. A small-looking phone photo can still be 2 to 4 MB. Resizing it here brings the file itself under 20KB.

Will my signature still be readable at 20KB?

Yes. Signatures are mostly white space and a few dark strokes, which compress very well. Photograph or scan the signature on plain white paper, crop close to it, and 20KB is plenty.

What if the form needs exact dimensions too?

Switch to Pixels, open the lock and enter the width and height from the form, then keep 20 in the maximum file size box. The tool keeps those dimensions and lowers the quality just enough to fit.

Which format is the result?

JPG, which almost every portal accepts. A PNG is converted to JPG, because PNG can't be compressed to a target size, and transparent areas become white.
